I Live where You Vacation

Now that the weather has gotten better here, i think i've been a bit happier. I bet i have seasonal affective disorder. yesterday and today seem so warm that you could fool me into thinking it's summer. On saturday i visited Tijuana again. I went with kurt, james, and james' friend from out of town. We basically went to the same places we went before, and like before, we had a lot of fun. it was a bit busier in tijuana than last time, probably because of the nice weather.

I still don't have my passport. I had to go to CVS and get some 2x2 photos done, but i found a coupon online, so it didnt cost me more than $8. (you should be proud becky!). So i sent those in, and i figure i'll get my passport within the next week or so. Still, even without a passport, i was able to get back in the country. Its not exactly a pleasant experience, going through customs, but i wasnt too worried. I had my liscence and social security card, and i was obviously american. which seems kind of racist because logically it is true that some americans are white, but not all americans are white. And some americans are brown, and not all mexicans are brown. But still, when your standing in line with a bunch of mexican looking people, and you are the only whitey, it seems reasonable to conclude that the whitey is the american. but then theres also other cultural indications, such as the way i dress and speak.

The next day was valentines day, and so we went over to Coronado, which was the first time i visited there. I didn't realize how beautiful that area was. No wonder people come to san diego for vacation. It amazes me that all that is practically in my backyard and i wasnt even aware of it. we went to the beach and walked around. I really liked seeing the hotel del coronado. it reminded me of the kind of hotel that was in the movie "somewhere in time." and when i got back home i looked it up and it turns out that that hotel was the backdrop for the book that the movie was based on.

So we walked around, chilled on the beach. it was a great day to go. everyone was out. its probably more expensive to live in coronado than in beverly hills, so there were a lot of old rich white people everywhere. Then there were also a lot of couples going there because it was valentines day. It is such a beautiful place to visit. i want to go there more often.

i took a lot of pictures, but i gotta find a good way to post them, because posting them one by one on this blog thing takes too long.

even though i had a slight cold throughout the weekend, i still had a good time. this weather is to die for. There' no way i could stay hidden inside.
still, i'm a bit under the weather, and i am exauhsted, so that is all i will say.

  1. Glad you had a good weekend Mark! We kind of goofed because we went to the snow on Monday which was a really nice day. What were we thinking? Luckily we have been blessed with a few more nice days so it all worked out. I wish I could be there, I have never actually visited Coronado but I plan on it in my life! Go you and your bad self with the CVS coupon, I am proud!
